Canada's 24th annual Gemini Awards unveiled the winners of the documentary and lifestyle categories last night in Toronto. Presented by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, the Geminis celebrate the best of Canadian television. Among this year's winners in the doc category were Dreamfilm Productions' Peace Warrior (best biography documentary program); Black Wave: The Legacy of the Exxon Valdez (best direction in a documentary program; best writing in a documentary program); the recently canceled CBC program The Lens (best documentary series); X-Weighted (best general/human interest series); China's Earthquake: The People in the Pictures (best history documentary program); Holmes in New Orleans (best lifestyle/practical information series) and The Young Romantic (best performing arts program or series or arts documentary program or series).
