Britain submits doc for foreign-language Oscar consideration

Havana Marking's doc Afghan Star has been submitted to the Oscar race by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts as Britain's pick for foreign-language film nomination. This submission from Britain into the foreign-language section was made possible due to a change in the Oscar rules that allow countries to submit films in a language that is not one of its official languages. Oscar nominations will be announced February 2.
