Nashville’s public-interest doc channel goes commercial

The Nashville-based Documentary Channel, which was launched as a public-interest television network by filmmaker Tom Neff in 2006, has relaunched as a fully commercial network under a deal with DISH Network LLC. The new deal allows the channel to branch out further in what companies it sells ads to, and how many ads it sells, while also allowing the company to invest in more original programming. The Documentary Channel currently reaches over 21 million homes.
