Darwin lives again in Nat Geo/NOVA bio-drama

National Geographic Television's first foray into scripted drama, a bio-pic of Charles Darwin, has wrapped principal photography in Canada and is slated to air Oct. 6, 2009, to coincide with the 200th anniversary of his birth. The two-hour drama, Darwin's Darkest Hour, stars Henry Ian Cusick (Lost) as Darwin and Frances O'Connor (Mansfield Park) as his wife Emma, and will air on PBS' NOVA, as well as NHK under a coproduction agreement with National Geographic Television International. It will be distributed internationally by Cinema Management Group (CMG). Directed by John Bradshaw, the film is produced by Michael Mahoney, and executive producers are Norman Stephens and John Bredar. Senior executive producer for NOVA is Paula S. Apsell.
