Britain’s history goes online

A new site featuring 200 years of Britain's history has just launched, promising to be useful to historical filmmakers. Vision of Britain was created with funding from the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) as part of a program to offer free access to academic research and resources to a wider audience of users. The type of information that is accessible through this portal is facts about locations and life in Britain such as historic boundary maps, land use surveys, unemployment and wage records, a library of British travel writing and parliamentary election results. The project is an initiative of the Great Britain Historial GIS, based at the University of Portsmouth.
