The Royal Television Society, a forum for discussion and debate on subjects of television and related areas, has launched the 2009 Innovation Awards. The awards recognize the development of new technologies in distribution, production and manipulation and emphasize the growing interdependence of content and technology. The award categories include the Under the Bonnet Award which recognizes advancement in the way content is managed or transferred to the end user, The Gizmo Award which awards a piece of hardware that answers a previously unmet need, and the Raising the Bar Award which acknowledges a technique or device which sets a new standard for expectations. The Awards planning committee is chaired by former director of ITV consumer Jeff Henry. The cost of entry is £129.25 and the closing date is August 14, 2009.
