BIO celebrates Ray Charles

On what would've been Ray Charles' 80th birthday, BIO is presenting Ray Charles America, a new look at the 'the Genius.' The two-hour special, narrated by David Duchovny, will air on October 12 and feature never-before-seen footage and unprecedented access to the Ray Charles archive. The film is a presentation from the Grammy-nominated producers of the BIO documentary Johnny Cash's America, and The Ray Charles Foundation. The special, directed by Alexis Spraic, includes interviews with Clint Eastwood, Bill Cosby, Fran Drescher, Elton John, Willie Nelson, B.B. King, Tom Waits and Norman Lear. Ray Charles America will screen at the Woodstock Film Festival on October 3 and premiere internationally at IDFA in November.
