The Urbanworld Film Festival, a five day internationally competitive fest focusing on films by and about people of color, revealed its category winners. The best documentary feature award went to Bouncing Cats, directed by Nabil Elderkin. The doc focuses on one man's attempts to better the lives of Ugandan children by teaching them breakdancing. The best documentary short went o One of These Mornings, from director/producer Valery Lyman. Her 17-minute doc uses voice mail messages on the day of the 2008 presidential election to paint a picture of the country on that monumental day. The jury for both documentary awards was comprised of Greg Rhem, director of documentary programming for HBO; Keith Clinkscales, SVP, content development and enterprises at ESPN; and Valerie Watts Meraz, Showtime Networks' VP, content acquisitions.
