HBO has announced Spike Lee's latest Hurricane Katrina documentary, called If God is Willing and Da Creek Don't Rise, a two-part film that debuts on August 23 and concludes on August 24. The four-hour doc sees Spike Lee return to New Orleans five years after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina to see if the reinvention of the city is playing out. If God is Willing begins with the Super Bowl victory of the New Orleans Saints and ends with the BP oil spill and the effects those events had on the Big Easy. Spike Lee previously directed the Emmy- and Peabody-winning 2006 documentary When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts, also for HBO.
