Oscilloscope to appeal MPAA’s R-rating of ‘A Film Unfinished’

A Film Unfinished has garnered an 'R'-rating from the MPAA for 'disturbing images of Holocaust atrocities including graphic nudity.' In response to that decision, Oscilloscope Laboratories has announced it will appeal the decision. The documentary, which is set for a national release this month, shows an unfinished Nazi propaganda film shot in 1942 in the Warsaw Ghetto in its entirety, noting fictionalized sequences throughout the film. A Film Unfinished won the World Cinema Documentary Editing Award at the Sundance Film Festival this year, and has also won awards at Hot Docs and AFI's Silverdocs Film Festival. Oscilloscope owner Adam Yauch says the rating would block classrooms from using the film for educational purposes.
