Screen Australia invests $4.5 million in docs

Screen Australia has approved 20 documentaries to fund in its July funding round, which will lead to production worth over $15 million. Screen Australia will invest $4.5 million in the docs that were selected in the National Documentary Program, Domestic and International doc programs. The film that is funded under the NDP is Wide Open Road, from producer/director Paul Clarke. The doc is an Australian social history of the 20th century. For the Domestic film programs, the films are Arthouse from producer/writer Marian Bartsch, Breaking: Dangerous from writer/directors Daniel Mansour and Tim Ryan, Cool School from Gregory Miller and Liz Courtney, Dick Smith's Population Puzzle from Simon Nasht, Football United from Adam Kay, Hardliners from prodco Cordell Jigsaw, I'm Not Dead Yet from Janine Hosking, Kulka from Claire Haywood, The Last Waltz from Nickolas Bird and Eleanor Sharpe, Miss South Sudan Australia from Shannon Owen, MT (w/t) from Hugh Piper, On a Wing and a Prayer from Leighton De Barros, Sex: An Unnatural History from Matchbox Pictures, Two in the Great Divide from Michael Cordell and lastly, Who Do You Think You Are 4 from Artemis International and Serendipity Productions for SBS. The docs funded under the International program are The Grammar of Happiness from director Randall Wood, Macquarie The Father of Australia from Les Wilson, Rocket Compulsion from Gregory Read and The Secret History of the Eurovision Song Contest from Stephen Oliver.
