UK-based indie Tern Television has appointed veteran TV producer Brendan Hughes to head up Tern Belfast. In his new position at Tern, Hughes will be in charge of expanding the local output base for the company and extending the network popular factual output for the BBC and Channel 4. Hughes comes to Tern Belfast with much experience as a program maker. He spent four years running DBA Belfast where he worked on high-end factual programming, and also held positions as MD at Jeremy Isaacs Productions and senior producer for Nations and Regions' BBC One Millennium Event. Specializing in genres from history to science to the arts, Hughes has worked on projects such as Blitz Street for C4, The Diets That Time Forgot for C4, BBC2's award-winning Thames Shipwrecks: A Race Against Time and five programs in the award-winning series Time Team for C4. Hughes' appointment is supported by Channel 4 Nations and Regions.
