Thinking outside the box for Lightbox
Samuel boarded Simon and Jonathan Chinn's premium content prodco Lightbox in 2019 following a stint with Dragonfly, tasked with expanding the company's range of returning series, limited series and doc projects, as well as its international customer base. Over the past four years, with a seven-strong team based in both Los Angeles and London, Samuel has made good on the assignment, helping to steer the company into controversial docs blurring the line between celeb profile and current affairs (Marilyn Manson Unmasked for Channel 4), projects with A-list exec producers attached (the four-part docuseries Camden for Disney+, EPed by Dua Lipa) and its first foray into scripted (Gunpowder Siege for Sky History). Up next: delivery of the long-awaited miniseries on Hurricane Katrina for Nat Geo. BW
What's the dream project you'd like to get on the air?
Over the years I've accumulated a collection of ideas that I'd love to get on air -- I hold them close, biding my time for the right opportunity to pitch! Ultimately, I want to bring projects to screen that have great narratives and compelling characters -- the fundamental ingredients to connect with big, broad audiences.
