HBO has announced that The Promise: The Making of ‘Darkness on the Edge of Town’, the documentary about the making of Bruce Springsteen’s fourth album, will air in October. The project, a collaboration between Grammy- and Emmy-winning Thom Zimny and Springsteen, is an in-studio look at the recording of Springsteen’s 1978 classic. It will feature never-before-seen footage shot from 1976 to 1978, with home rehearsals and recording sessions. Set to premiere in December, Wishful Drinking brings writer/actress Carrie Fisher’s stage production based on her memoir ‘Wishful Drinking’ to documentary audiences. The feature doc will combine parts of Fisher’s one-woman stage performance with interviews and archival footage, to cover topics ranging from her celebrity from the Star Wars trilogy to struggles with addiction. Wishful Drinking is produced and directed by World of Wonder’s Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato.
