History Channel Iberia, a joint venture between Chello Multicanal and A+E Networks, has appointed Carolina Godayol as managing director.

Based in Madrid, she will oversee the joint venture and its roster of factual channels including History, Bio and Crime & Investigation Network in Spain and Portugal.

She’d previously served as managing director for Iberia at NBC Universal Global Networks overseeing Calle 13 and Syfy. Before that, she was general manager for Showtime Networks Spain. She has also held positions with BRB International, and at Chello Multicanal, as director of Canal Panda and as marketing director.

Godayol replaces previous MD Diego Castrillo, who is “returning to school to obtain his doctorate,” according to an A+E spokeswoman.

“We have recently added Crime & Investigation Network to the joint venture’s portfolio in Spain, and believe that Carolina’s experience and expertise will be critical to the continued growth of our channels in the region,” said Dean Possenniskie, managing director, Europe for A+E Networks.
