Hot Docs funding program deadlines approaching

The Hot Docs-Blue Ice Film Fund, a production fund for African documentary films and filmmakers, is accepting applications until December 14, while the deadline for the Shaw Media-Hot Docs Funds is this Wednesday.

Attention doc-makers – if you’re hoping to access funding from the Shaw Media-Hot Docs Funds in the year ahead, you have a few days left to get your applications in.

The deadline for this round is October 26 – this Wednesday. These funds consist of a CDN$3-million completion fund and a $1-million development fund for Canadian documentary film projects. For more information and application forms, click here.

Meanwhile, those hoping to enter the competition for the Hot Docs-Blue Ice Film Fund, a CDN$1-million production fund aiming to provide financial support to independent documentary filmmakers based in developing African countries, have until December 14 to get their applications in. The funds consist of development grants of $3,000 – $8,000 and production grants of $5,000-$40,000 and are awarded to approximately four to 10 projects annually.
