MIPDoc has revamped its annual documentary pitching competition, and has begun its call for entries.

The newly christened MIPDoc International Pitch will bring six of the best applications received to a panel of international commissioning editors and broadcasters for a live pitch session to be held during MIPDoc in Cannes, France on March 30.

Selections will be made on the basis of innovation and originality as apparent in storytelling techniques, characters, look, story and theme; and international appeal.

This year, MIPDoc will be introducing a crowdfunding element into the mix, with entrants being able to upload their projects onto an online crowdfunding platform for a chance to gain further investment. More information regarding this development will follow in the coming days, say organizers.

The deadline for submissions is February 21, 2012. For more information, and to enter, click here.

Sponsors and partners for the MIPDoc International Pitch include realscreen, EDN and Content Asia.
