Keshet International has sold interactive talent show format Rising Star (pictured) to Russian broadcaster Rossiya 1 and French channel M6.
The Israeli distributor/producer, part of Keshet Media Group, held a live screening at MIPCOM in Cannes where prospective buyers were able to take part in real-time audience voting via a free app that is integrated into the broadcast.
If a contestant secures 70 percent of viewers’ and judges’ votes, a screen in the studio rises to reveal the winner. The show, which premiered last month, is produced in Israel by Tedy Productions for Keshet Broadcasting’s Channel 2.
“This format stands out with its integrative second-screen approach and proves that the television industry is hungry for innovation,” said Keshet International’s managing director, Alon Shtruzman, in a statement.
More than 2.3 million votes have been tallied through the Rising Star app, which has been downloaded more than 1.2 million times.
