BBC2 is teaming up actor/comedian Alexander Armstrong with food critic/TV presenter Giles Coren on a mission to definitively name (and taste) the 12 Drinks of Christmas.

The hour-long program, to be produced by Hat Trick Productions and with an air date to be announced, will see the two men, who also happen to be brothers-in-law, endeavor to find a dozen drinks that perfectly encapsulate the holiday season, ranging from the wassail punch with the most kick, to the ultimate eggnog.

“At last we have the opportunity to nail that most complicated issue that dogs the end of each year: the one that starts with the question ‘What are you having?’” said Armstrong via a statement. “We’ve done all the work so you don’t need to and here – after back-breaking research – we reveal the very best things with which to fill your glass this winter.”

The program was commissioned by Alison Kirkham, head of commissioning, factual features & formats and Janice Hadlow, controller of BBC Two. It is executive produced by Alison Kirkham for the BBC and Claire Collinson-Jones for Hat Trick Productions.
