Spain’s Atresmedia acquires Keshet’s “Rising Star”

Spanish media group Atresmedia is the latest company to acquire the rights to produce a local version of Keshet International's hit interactive talent show format Rising Star (pictured).

Spanish media group Atresmedia has bought producer-distributor Keshet International’s Rising Star format (pictured).

The company is the latest to acquire the interactive talent show, which debuted on Keshet’s Channel 2 in Israel earlier this year. On Thursday (November 28), ITV picked up the rights to produce a UK version of the series.

Keshet has also struck Rising Star deals with broadcasters in Italy, France, Hungary, Russia, Germany and the Nordics; and ABC will premiere an American adaptation next summer.

The show gives the audience the power to choose the winner of a singing competition in real time. Viewers vote via an app and contestants receive feedback as they are performing. If a contestant secures 70% of viewers’ and judges’ votes, a screen in the studio rises to reveal the winner.

The Israeli version of the show is produced by Tedy Productions.
