London-based Shine Group has created a new position – head of global format acquisitions – and appointed former Cineflix exec Dave Clarke (pictured) for the role.

Clarke will be charged with scouting and acquiring global non-scripted formats, as well as the management of those formats for Shine Group and rights holders, when he takes up the job this week.

He will work closely with the Shine Group sales and distribution arm, Shine International, and the executive producers within Shine Network, the group’s formats division. Clarke will report to the heads of both divisions, Nadine Nohr and Claudia Danser.

Clarke was most recently the VP of strategic planning and format acquisition at Cineflix, and prior to that was at Virgin Media TV where he was controller of Bravo and Challenge and head of international coproduction development.

“Dave brings both insight and experience from both acquisitions and commissioning to this new role which will be of great value to our clients,” said Nohr and Danser in a joint statement.
