Travel Channel ups Brigitte McCray

Travel Channel has promoted Brigitte McCray (pictured) to senior vice president, program planning and strategy, with the veteran exec chosen to oversee brand research for the U.S. cable net.

Travel Channel has promoted Brigitte McCray (pictured) to senior vice president, program planning and strategy.

McCray, who will report to network president Shannon O’Neill, will now head up brand research in addition to overseeing short and long-term program planning, scheduling and managing all acquisitions for the net.

She joined Travel in 2010 as vice president, programming: planning and strategy. Prior to that, she worked in several roles at Oxygen Media including senior vice president of programming and vice president of marketing/on-air promotions and creative services. McCray has more than 20 years of experience in the television industry and has worked at both broadcast and cable nets, including BET and WABC-TV/Disney.

She will continue to be based in Travel’s Chevy Chase, Maryland headquarters.

The appointment comes following an executive restructuring in February that saw Andy Singer step down after two years as general manager and Ross Babbit promoted to senior VP of programming and development. Two weeks before that, the company promoted O’Neill to the president role.
