Investigation Discovery has promoted Winona Meringolo (pictured), former senior director of development for ID and American Heroes Channel (AHC), to a newly created VP of development role for the net, where she will lead ID’s development and further the programming slate for AHC.

In her previous position, Meringolo conceptualized and developed ID series such as Obsession: Dark DesiresRedrumDates from Hell and My Dirty Little Secret as well as America: Facts vs. Fiction and Commander in Chief for AHC. She first joined Discovery in 2005 as part of the Discovery Health Channel development team.

Prior to joining ID and AHC, Meringolo was manager of development at TLC, where she was the lead development executive on series and specials including Extreme Couponing and Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta.

In Meringolo’s new position, she will report to Jane Latman, senior VP of development at ID and GM of Discovery Fit & Health, who took on the latter role earlier this month.

“Winona’s terrific combination of outstanding relationships with the creative community and an impeccable editorial eye has helped us create one of the top hit rates in television,” said Latman in a statement. “Her leadership skills have been instrumental in allowing us to develop more than 600 hours of content in 2014 alone.”
