Channel 5 UK orders “Brand New Home” series

Red House and GroupM Entertainment are coproducing the home renovation series starring interior designer and British TV personality Linda Barker.

British broadcaster Channel 5 (C5) has commissioned Brand New Home for £5k from producers Red House and GroupM Entertainment.

The three x 60-minutes home renovation program will follow interior designer Linda Barker as she transforms dated and dilapidated houses into modern digs on a budget. Barker takes the family’s keys and cash, empties their belongings onto the lawn and – following a brainstorm session – spends two weeks overhauling the premises.

The English designer is a seasoned reality TV personality in the UK. She presented the BBC series Changing Rooms and appeared on the celebrity edition of Come Dine With Me, ITV’s daytime series 60 Minute Makevoer and celebrity diving series Splash!

“Her background and love of design make her the perfect presenter for Brand New Home for £5k,” said Emma Westcott, C5′s commissioning editor for factual, in a statement. “As the housing market is closing in, we think viewers will be fascinated by what can be achieved with a £5,000 budget.”

Brand New Home for £5k will air on C5 later in the year.
