VH1 hires former Oxygen, Big Fish execs

The U.S. cable network has hired Jennifer McGovern (pictured) to be its VP of development, while Ken Martinez joins as VP of current production for the East Coast office.

U.S. cable network VH1′s East Coast office has hired Jennifer McGovern (pictured) to be its VP of development, with Ken Martinez joining as VP of current production.

McGovern, formerly the director of development and production for Oxygen, will lead development on all unscripted programming coming out of the East Coast. Her credits include The Glee Project, I’m Having Their Baby and the upcoming Funny Girls.

Martinez will manage the channel’s slate of current unscripted series and lead production on all original programming on the East Coast. Most recently, he worked at Big Fish Entertainment, where he exec produced the VH1 series Black Ink Crew, and produced ABC’s Celebrity Wife Swap and VH1′s Rock of Love.

Both will report to senior VP of East Coast production and development Nina L. Diaz.

VH1 has also promoted Vivian Gomez to director of current production. She will serve as executive producer on several series, including the Love & Hip Hop franchise.

In April, the Viacom-owned net restructured its New York development team by laying off 13 production and development staffers, including VPs of East Coast production and development Brad Abramson and Kari McFarland.
