Oscilloscope Laboratories has acquired the North American rights to director Andrew Napier’s documentary Mad As Hell (pictured).

On February 6, the distributor will open the film theatrically in New York and Los Angeles while  simultaneously releasing it across VOD platforms. A DVD/Blu-Ray release is to follow.

Mad As Hell, which premiered at the 2014 Hot Docs Film Festival, tells the story of the online news show The Young Turks and its firebrand founder and host Cenk Uygur, whose popularity on YouTube propels him to a job at MSNBC. However, his blunt delivery quickly puts him at odds with the cable news network’s execs.

The doc is already playing in select theaters across the United States via Gathr Films’ Theatrical on Demand model, and will screen as an official selection at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
