MIPTV ’15: Cambodia, Peru buy into “Boom!”

Networks in Cambodia and Peru have ordered local versions of the game show format Boom! (pictured).

Bayon Radio and Television Cambodia is the first Asian network to commission the series from Israeli producer-distributor Keshet International. The show will air weekly beginning this summer and will be produced in-house.

Meanwhile, America TV Peru will debut a local version of the show in the fourth quarter. The channel is also producing in-house.

Other Latin American territories to pick up the format are Argentina’s Telefe and TVN Chile where it is currently on air. Uruguay’s Canal 10 acquired 35 episodes of the Spanish version.

Boom! challenges teams of players to defuse slime-filled bombs by answering questions correctly within a strict time limit. The players must cut wires corresponding to their answers and if they get an answer incorrect or run out of time, the bomb explodes and showers them and part of the audience with guacamole, mashed potatoes and other contents.

The American version of Boom! will premiere on Fox on June 25.
