Channel 5 factual and factual entertainment commissioner Jason Wells (pictured) has joined London-based indie Crackit Productions as an executive producer.

Wells, who left the UK broadcaster last year, will join the company at the end of the month and oversee projects from development through production, as well as contribute to formats.

At Channel 5, he commissioned Caught on Camera, Police 5 and Nightmare Neighbours Next Door. He has also worked as a producer for Optomen and Reef Television.

Last month, the network commissioned Crackit to produce a six-part series on the most memorable moments in modern British history, 20 Moments That Rocked Britain.

Another Channel 5 commissioner, Simon Raikes, was recently named as creative director of UK indie Red Planet Pictures’ newly launched unscripted and factual arm. The post begins this summer.
