Erin Mechanic joins Spike’s development team

The former Ardaban exec (pictured) has joined the recently rebranded Viacom-owned cable net as a development producer.

Viacom-owned cable net Spike has hired Erin Mechanic as a development producer on its original series team.

Reporting to Spike’s senior VP of original series Chachi Senior, Mechanic will focus on “internal creative concepts” for unscripted programming at the network, which recently shifted its focus from high-octane programming for men to producing series with gender-balanced appeal.

Mechanic is a former development exec with Ardaban, the company Chachi Senior worked for prior to moving to Spike in April. At Ardaban, she managed the development team and oversaw production on series for networks such as CMT, TLC, A&E and E!, among others.

Before that, she worked in development for Shine America and as an independent producer for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards on various theatrical research and marketing projects.
