National Geographic Channels has promoted Brad Dancer to executive VP of programming planning and research.
Formerly senior VP of the division, Dancer is one of the company’s first 10 employees. He will continue to oversee program strategy for National Geographic Channel (NGC), Nat Geo Wild and Nat Geo Mundo, as well as day-to-day scheduling, long-term schedule planning and acquisitions for NGC and Wild.
In addition, the exec manages consumer research across programming, development, marketing, communications, digital media and finance. He also heads up digital, mobile and VOD distribution, and most recently oversaw the roll-out of NGC and Wild on TV Everywhere, Apple TV, Roku, Xbox 360 and other platforms.
During his time at the company, he has scheduled multi-platform sneak previews of series, premiered full seasons of new programs such as Vet School on VOD and launched a 52-week premiere strategy for the strand ‘Destination Wild.’
Prior to joining National Geographic Channels in 2000, he was director of programming and research for Fox 5 WTTG-TV in Washington DC.
