Nine Network Australia has secured the rights to UK producer Twofour’s entertainment format This Time Next Year, slated for production immediately.

The 6 x 60-minute series is to spotlight ordinary individuals from across Australia as they undertake a life-altering transformation over the course of 12 months. Contestants will tell viewers what they aim to change about themselves by “this time next year.”

From losing half their body weight, finding love or becoming a parent, the series will be delivered in an “instantaneous time travel” format, breaking away from the traditional makeover format.

The UK version will be hosted by TV presenter Davina McCall and is to broadcast across ITV.

“At MIPCOM we have seen a wide range of programming ideas but without a doubt This Time Next Year stands out as something we believe will resonate with Australian audiences,” said Michael Healy, director of television at Nine Network Australia, in a statement.
