U.S. cable network Discovery Life will air a two-part special about Republican presidential hopeful┬áBen Carson’s medical career later this month.

Due to air on October 20 – a week before the Republican presidential primary debate – Ben Carson: The Lost Tapes will focus on the retired neurosurgeon’s achievements, such as when he became the first surgeon to successfully separate twins conjoined at the head.

The first episode,”Pediatric Brain Surgery,” focuses on the first surgery to remove a life-threatening tumor using a specific wand with sensors at its tip. The second, “Separating Conjoined Twins,” is about the 1987 procedure to separate Zambian twins joined at the head and facing opposite directions.

Carson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by former U.S. president George W. Bush in 2008. He retired that year and has since become a popular conservative figure in the media. The Detroit native announced he would seek the Republican presidential nomination earlier this year.
