French documentary producer Gedeon Programmes has hired veteran development exec Nicolas Deschamps as producer and head of international coproductions.
He will focus on formats and programs intended to air during prime time. Next week, he will be on hand at the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers in Vienna to launch a call to co-develop “ambitious and landmark” documentary projects as part of a €300,000 (US$318,000) investment fund for 2016.
Deschamps has worked on the network side for several years, first as an acquisitions consultant for TV5 Monde and France 3 and later as head of acquisitions and format development for Télé Images and head of acquisitions for Arte France.
He was also a commissioning editor for science and nature programming at France Télévisions, and headed development and productions for producers Boréales and ITV Studios, respectively, before becoming an associate producer at MC4, where he produced the doc D-Day’s Sunken Secrets.
