Scripps Networks Interactive launches Apple TV apps

Scripps Networks Interactive has spent much of 2015 pushing its content to various mobile devices, but this is the first time it has launched on a connected device.

Scripps Networks Interactive has launched apps for its HGTV, Food Network and Travel Channel brands on Apple TV.

Through the apps, users will have access to on-demand content, which includes a large back catalog of programming as well as an option for watching shows currently airing on linear networks.

For the latter option, users will need to authenticate their pay-TV provider credentials.

Henry Ahn, president of content distribution and marketing for Scripps, said this initiative is part of Scripps’ TV Everywhere strategy to reach more viewers in more places. “We want to…deliver content across the broadest possible range on our platforms.”

Earlier this year, Scripps began simultaneous live streaming of its HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel, DIY Network and Cooking Channel brands through their live websites, as well as on mobile devices.
