Rita Mullin, former Science Channel general manager, has joined Seattle-based Vulcan Productions as senior creative and content director.
Mullin will report to Carole Tomko, who heads Vulcan Productions and Vulcan Philanthropy. The company was founded by Microsoft co-founder, philanthropist and entrepreneur Paul G. Allen and has been behind outreach campaigns for such projects as Louie Psihoyos‘ Racing Extinction, and has produced such doc projects as Body Team 12 and We the Economy with Warrior Poets.
“Rita is a terrific leader with an outstanding track record for developing and producing exceptional programming,” said Tomko in a statement. “She will be an enormous asset to Vulcan Productions as we significantly expand our content slate across multiple platforms. We are delighted to have Rita on board as we grow our business.”
Mullin left Science Channel in September of last year. Prior to that post, she served as EVP of programming and development at the Oprah Winfrey Network, SVP of content strategy at Discovery Fit and Health and vice president of development at TLC and Discovery Health Channel.
