Content studio Lionsgate has secured an overall television deal with unscripted producers David Shumsky (pictured, left) and Mark Harris (right).

Under the deal, the pair will exclusively develop original factual series and formats for Lionsgate’s alternative division through their Ohana Pictures banner, including the recently announced Kicking & Screaming. The eight-episode survival competition series, which was co-created with Matt Kunitz, will premiere on Fox later this year.

Lionsgate will also receive first-call on any scripted developments produced by Ohana.

Shumsky and Harris will work alongside Lionsgate’s roster of production partners, including Kunitz’s Pulse Creative, Adam DiVello‘s Done and Done Productions, Dave Caplan’s Trooper Entertainment, and the recently signed Shiny Objects Entertainment, among others.

Previously, Shumsky served as VP of development at FremantleMedia North America. His production credits include ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on ABC and NBC’s Last Comic Standing.

Harris, meanwhile, has held various titles in the film industry and has had titles screen at such film festivals as Cannes, Toronto, Berlin, Sundance and SXSW.

The overall television agreement further highlights Lionsgate’s expansion in the unscripted arena, which acquired a major stake in Craig Piligian‘s Pilgrim Studios in November. Lionsgate TV’s stable of unscripted series includes Freeform’s Monica the Medium, Hulu’s RocketJump: The Show,E!’s Christina Milian: Turned Up and GSN’s Hellevator.

Harris and Shumsky are repped by WME.

“Mark and David are spectacular producers, and come to us with a range of bold, fresh concepts to develop and fertile worlds to build,” said Jennifer O’Connell, executive VP of alternative programming at Lionsgate Television, in a statement. “We are delighted to have this creative duo at Lionsgate Television in an exclusive role, and look to them to help the studio accelerate its momentum and expand further in the unscripted arena.”
