Daniele Anastasion receives espnW Film Fellowship funds

The inaugural espnW Film Fellowship program has chosen I Am Yup’ik director Daniele Anastasion as the recipient of funding to direct a docuseries focused on track athlete and expectant mother Sarah Brown (pictured).

The four-part Run Mama Run will follow the middle distance runner as she attempts to crack the U.S. Olympic roster while pregnant with her first child, due in March. On the heels of her best running season, the episodes will document Brown’s nutrition regimen and tailored workouts through pregnancy, as well as postpartum training, with the help of husband and trainer Darren Brown.

Episodes will launch across the network’s digital platform from April to August and will screen at the 2016 espnW: Women + Sports Summit this fall. Working closely alongside the ESPN Films team, Anastasion will also document her directorial journey on espnW’s website.

Anastasion has produced a raft of unscripted content across the TV and film spaces for National Geographic Channel, and also co-directed and co-produced the Sundance award-winning documentary The Redemption of General Butt Naked as well as I Am Yup’ik” for ESPN’s 30 for 30 Shorts series.

The espnW Film Fellowship program rewards filmmakers hoping to bring a female-centric sports story to life on screen. It is a partnership between espnW, a division of ESPN created to serve female sports enthusiasts, and retailer Walmart.
