CCTV orders up “Eureka Moment”

Chinese broadcaster CCTV and FremantleMedia China are teaming up on a local version of game show format The Eureka Moment (pictured).

The program will be co-developed with CCTV Creation and the 11 x 90-minute episode order will premiere on CCTV-1 this June in a Sunday evening primetime slot.

The Eureka Moment was originally developed by Blue Circle for Dutch broadcaster RTL 4. The show finds two couples going head to head in tests of knowledge as well as dangerous stunts and zany experiments. The grand prize is what[‘s billed as a “holiday of a lifetime.”

FremantleMedia previously partnered with CCTV on Chinese adaptations of the comedy series Thank God You’re Here and the talent competition Don’t Stop Me Now.

“This is the first time that we have placed a series into the much-coveted Sunday evening primetime slot on CCTV-1 and we’re looking forward to developing our relationship further to co-develop many more FM formats in the future,” said Vivian Yin, CEO of FremantleMedia China, in a statement.
