After nearly seven years, Dolores Gavin is returning to A+E Networks-owned cable net History in the newly created post of senior executive for development and production.

Based out of A+E’s New York City offices, Gavin (pictured) is tasked with developing and executing new unscripted franchises and formats. She will report to Paul Cabana, executive VP and head of programming.

Gavin most recently served as exec VP of development at Megalomedia. Joining in August 2015, she managed all aspects of the Austin-based prodco’s development in the U.S. and abroad.

Prior to this, she served as exec VP of production and development at Discovery Channel, overseeing such programs as Gold Rush, Alaskan Bush People, Moonshiners and Sons of Guns.

Gavin was previously with History from 2000 to 2009, most recently serving as VP of programming. Here, she was responsible for developing and supervising such successful series as Ax Men and Ice Road Truckers.

“Dolores has an unparalleled track record of success in non-fiction programming, both within our organization and externally,” said Cabana in a statement. “She has an incredible ability to discover new talent and foster and create new hits.”
