“Watts on the Grill” renewed for season two

Twelve new episodes of the culinary series will air on Bell Media's rebranded CTV Life channel later in the year.

Bell Media has ordered a second helping of Gusto Worldwide Media’s culinary series Watts on the Grill.

The Spencer Watts-hosted series is headed into production on 12 new half-hour episodes, with season two scheduled to premiere on Bell Media’s Gusto specialty channel (soon to be rebranded as CTV Life) later in the year.

The new season sees Watts sharing expert tips on barbecuing everything from meat to chocolate, cheese and fruit. Outside of Canada, Watts on the Grill also airs on Gusto TV in Singapore, SBS Food in Australia and Kitchen TV in Russia.

Watts on the Grill joins a number of recently renewed series that will premiere when the rebranded CTV Life channel relaunches in September. Those include season two of Bonacini’s Italy and season three of Spencer’s BIG 30. As well, Bell Media last month revealed that lifestyle star Mike Holmes was switching networks from Corus to Bell Media, with an original series, Holmes 911, scheduled to launch on CTV Life this fall. The specialty channel also acquired a catalog of other series previously produced through Holmes’ Make It Right production banner.
