ITV Studios and Australasian prodco Active TV, led by Bertram van Munster and Michael McKay, have entered a pact that will see the companies producing together as ITV Studios Asia.
The companies will develop content for the local market as well as work with broadcasters in the region to find homes for ITVS’ new and existing formats. Active TV will produce all the content, with international distribution for the finished programming to be handled by ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
Active TV, with headquarters in Melbourne and Singapore, specializes in producing entertainment and reality formats. Recent productions include local versions of The Amazing Race for Asia, Australia and Israel, and weekly entertainment series E News Asia.
“One of the objectives for increasing ITV Studios revenues is to fully exploit our portfolio of formats and brands internationally and this agreement is a step forward in growing our international footprint to achieve this,” said Kevin Lygo, managing director of ITV Studios, in a statement.
“This collaboration will allow us to quickly roll out our internationally proven hits across the region, positioning us well to take advantage of new content coming through ITV Studios,” added James Ross, regional director, Asia, at ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
