A&E Network has set an air date for a new reality series from Thom Beers, American Hoggers (FKA Boar Hunters), with eight 30-minute episodes set to premiere from August 16.

The original series, first unveiled as part of A&E’s Upfront in May, looks at the hog-hunting Campbell family and their efforts to rescue Texas residents and ranches from the devastating chaos caused by millions of invasive wild boars.

According to the show’s producers, feral hogs cause more than US $50 million per year in damage to the state of Texas alone, with farms having had to shut down and families having been left scared to step outside their own homes.

The show will air in a 10 p.m. slot on A&E and is produced by FremantleMedia-owned Original Productions. The exec producers for Original are Beers and Philip D. Segal, while the A&E exec producers are David McKillop, Elaine Frontain Bryant and Lily Neumeyer.

Jeff Conroy serves as co-exec producer and Brandon Killion serves as series producer.
