U.S. cable network Discovery Channel has upped Dolores Gavin to executive VP of development and production, east, where she will oversee both scripted and non-scripted projects.

Previously the SVP of development and production for Discovery Channel, where she developed Moonshiners, Amish Mafia, and Discovery’s upcoming scripted endeavor Gold Diggers: Striking It Rich in the Klondike, Gavin will now spearhead all scripted projects and oversee all development and programming strategy out of the network’s East Coast offices.

Gavin is based in Silver Spring, Maryland and will continue to report to Eileen O’Neill, group president of Discovery and TLC Network.

She joined Discovery Channel in 2010, and prior to that she was VP of development and programming History Channel.

“Dolores has been an essential component in the success of our most popular series,” said O’Neill. “She is insightful and incredibly passionate about the business of making compelling television. Dolores’ creative leadership has been an invaluable asset to our team, her ability to bring a story to life continues to astound me. I look forward to having her continued contributions.”
