A+E Networks UK has appointed former RTL Netherlands exec Nicolas Eglau (pictured, left) as chief operating officer and promoted Heather Jones (right) to senior VP of content and creative.

As COO – a newly created role – Eglau will oversee operating and commercial units in the UK and other territories including France, as well as divisions such as legal, financial, strategy, distribution and ad sales.

He will also serve as GM for the Nordics, Benelux and CEEMA, and lead offices in Copenhagen, Warsaw and Johannesburg.

The exec will join A+E in September and will report to Dean Possenniskie, MD for EMEA.

While at RTL, Eglau served for five years on the executive board and worked as MD of ventures. In this role, he managed the Dutch company’s cable TV division and oversaw the launch of RTL Lounge, RTL Crime and RTL Telekids. Before that, he worked as the RTL Group’s VP for Central and Eastern Europe.

Meanwhile, Jones will now manage all of A+E Networks UK’s creative units, including programming, marketing, communications, creative and digital. She will continue to serve as GM for the UK, a position she assumed in February.

Prior to joining A+E Networks UK in 2013, Jones was the MD at North One and director of television for Viacom UK.
