NFL Network exec boards Ovation TV

Former NFL Network exec John Malkin has joined Ovation TV as executive VP of content distribution, and will oversee the U.S. arts net's multi-platform distribution strategy.

Former NFL Network exec John Malkin (pictured) has joined Ovation TV as executive VP of content distribution.

The hire comes as the U.S. arts net looks to expand its reach into digital platforms. In the new role, Malkin will lead the network’s multi-platform distribution strategy, and will report to Ovation CEO Charles Segars.

The exec replaces outgoing executive VP of distribution Brad Samuels, who recently joined Bloomberg TV to manage that company’s content distribution. Ovation’s senior VP of content distribution and partnerships Mike Pons and VP of affiliate marketing Randy Rovegno now report to Malkin.

At NFL Network, Malkin served as VP of affiliate distribution, where he oversaw and managed elements of the NFL’s television networks, NFLN and NFL RedZone, including affiliate sales, TV Everywhere and content distribution on linear and OTT platforms.

During his tenure, Malkin inked carriage deals with Time Warner Cable, Cablevision, Charter and more than 400 cable companies in the National Cable Television Co-Op (NCTC).

Prior to his work at NFL Network, Malkin held positions at Fox News, most recently serving as VP of affiliate marketing and local sales and looking after the marketing of Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network across affiliate and consumer platforms.
