Arts-oriented UK channel Sky Arts has commissioned a new docuseries from Brighton-based indie Factory Films.

The series is set to chronicle the inaugural Glyndebourne Opera Cup, a biennial competition to track down the world’s best singers that will take place in Glyndebourne, an East Sussex opera house, next March. The competition’s winner will be rewarded £15,000 ($20,000 US)..

“It’s an ambitious and exciting project, with a live-finale, alongside as-live and documentary elements,” said Factory co-founder and creative director Julie Heathcote (pictured, right), in a statement. “It’s a first for Factory, but key people on Team Factory have got strong track records in live TV so we’re very pleased, proud and excited to be making the show for Sky Arts.”

“What we love about Glyndebourne is their creativity, ambition and excellence… and all in Sussex,” added Factory co-founder and MD Lisa Fairbanks (left).

Factory Films has previously produced programs for All4, BBC3, BBC Bitsize, CBBC, BBC South East and Sky Arts. The prodco’s past credits for Sky Arts include Giles Coren: My Failed Novel.
