FremantleMedia UK factual entertainment label Boundless has made a number of key appointments to its senior management team.

The former joint MD at All3Media-owned betty, Neil Smith, has been tapped for the role of managing director, reporting to Liam Humphreys, CEO of FremantleMedia UK Unscripted. Smith (pictured) joins the team in December. In his role at betty, Smith was in charge of all production and development with recent commissions including the upcoming series Gone To Pot for ITV and Get Fit Fast for Channel 4.

Elsewhere, Ben Mitchell, former head of popular factual at Shine TV, joins the prodco in 2018 in the newly created role of director of programs. While at Shine TV, he co-developed and executive produced the BAFTA and RTS award-winning series The Island with Bear Grylls for Channel 4. During his 20 year career, he has also produced and directed many factual formats like Shipwrecked, Undercover Boss, Kevin McCloud’s Man Made Home and The Hotel.

Within Boundless, executive producer Cal Turner has been elevated to the role of head of popular factual and will continue to oversee the BAFTA-award winning competition series The Apprentice.

As well, John Comerford becomes head of Boundless West and factual features, with a newly expanded role that includes responsibility for factual features programming within the prodco.

Damian Pitman, the newly appointed director of development, also joins the company in the new year.
