London-based production company Blast! Films has been commissioned by British pubcaster Channel 4 to produce Famous and Fighting Crime.
The 4 x 60-minute docuseries will follow a group of famous faces as they endure the same sort of rigorous training as special constables in order to work as volunteer officers alongside British police forces.
The tentatively titled four-part series will look to explore the serious and pressing issues facing modern policing while challenging each celebrity’s view on crime and punishment while providing insights into contemporary Britain.
Each household name will then serve alongside officers to work shifts across such units as traffic, public order, custody, patrol and burglary, while also assisting law enforcement officials at rowdy events.
Executive producers for Blast! include Edmund Coulthard (pictured) and Dermot Caulfield. Claire McFall is series producer.
“With Blast’s background in serious police series like Coppers and 999: What’s your Emergency?, this will be a series that doesn’t shy away from the tough end of modern policing – and it’s certain to be a life-changing experience for any rookie going out for the first time,” Coulthard said in a statement.
