California-based prodco Lighthearted Entertainment has bolstered its production and development teams, hiring Jenni Fontana as director of development.
Most recently, Fontana (pictured, left) served as director of development for A Smith & Co, where she focused on doc series development and contributed to upcoming projects for CNN, Netflix, and Amazon.
Previously Fontana worked at Esquire Network on the company’s development and current production teams, with credits including Team Ninja Warrior, Uncorked and The Runner-Up.
“Jenni is a fantastic addition to our team as we broaden and expand our creative focus. She has a great eye for both stories that need to be told and undiscovered talent audiences will connect with,” said Jeff Spangler, co-president of Lighthearted Entertainment, in a statement.
Also, Lighthearted has upped Michael Newstat (pictured, right) to VP of production and post-production.
In the role, Newstat is tasked with managing the financial and logistical aspects of Lighthearted’s production and development slate.
He joined the company in 2014 as post production supervisor and was promoted to VP of post production in 2015, with credits including Are You the One?, Dating Naked, Last Squad Standing and Twinning.
Prior to joining Lighthearted, Michael worked on projects for networks including ABC, MTV, and BBC.
