American broadcast network ABC has partnered with weekly human-interest magazine People on a four-hour primetime documentary on the British royal family.

Produced by Time Inc. Productions, The Story of The Royals will serve as a two-night television event spanning four generations of the crown, from Queen Elizabeth II to Prince Charles, and Prince William to Prince George.

Through exclusive interviews with palace insiders, as well as royal experts and long-time People contributors, the multi-part docuseries will provide a comprehensive guide into the British monarchy’s past and present, with the introduction of a new royal baby and Meghan Markle, fiancee to Prince Harry and the first American set to marry into the British royal family since Wallis Simpson in 1937.

The commission marks the second time that ABC, People and Time Inc. Productions have partnered on a royal family doc project, following the August 2017 premiere of The Story of Diana, a two-night event that honored the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death.

The Story of The Royals will premiere in August, with Time Inc. Productions distributing the documentary internationally.

Time Inc.’s Ian Orefice┬áserves as executive producer alongside Maura Mandt, with Rebecca Gitlitz directing.
